Local support for those who have had laryngectomees and their carers

The Fife Augmentative and Alternative Communication Team (FAACT) offer a range of strategies and tools to help people who have difficulty speaking. This may be a simple letter or picture board or a sophisticated computer-based system. FAACT can help someone to communicate as effectively as possible, in as many situations as possible.

FAACT is a multi-agency team, staffed by a speech and language therapist, teacher and technician, who work in partnership with parents, carers and professionals involved with an individual requiring support. The team provides assessment and recommendation of appropriate communication systems. Support can be carried out at various locations including home, school, community settings and hospital. The team can also provide advice and training in a wide range of augmentative and alternative communication systems.
